Kim Kardashian Weds!

August 22, 2011 By Michael Russo | Leave a Comment

As many of you may already know, this past Saturday marked the wedding of reality star Kim Kardashian and basketball player Kris Humphries. Details on the star-studded ceremony are few and far between; to get the lowdown on the big day, we’ll all have to tune into the the special that the couple filmed for E!, set to air in October. However, a few things are for certain: first and foremost, the lavish event wasn’t  short on extravagance. The wedding was held in the posh Montecito area in California, and the bride (and her sisters Kourtney and Khloe, who served as so-maids of honor) wore custom ivory Vera Wang. She also wore Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and a diamond-bedecked headpiece. In fact, it has been reported that Wang designed two additional dresses for Kim to wear throughout the reception. The groom, on the other hand, wore a white peak-lapel tuxedo jacket, black tuxedo pants, and a white shirt and bow tie, all by Ermenegildo Zegna. Kim’s stepfather, Bruce Jenner, walked her down the aisle, in front of over 440 guests, including Mario Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, Demi Lovato, Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough, Eva Longoria and Serena Williams. Interestingly, the wedding had a black-and-white dress code (tabloids are reporting that Lindsay Lohan attempted to upstage the bride in a white Temperley gown that Pippa Middleton had previously worn in green to the Royal Wedding earlier this year — scandal!). Finally, in an adorable turn of events, her nephew, Kourtney’s 1 1/2 year-old son Mason, was the ringbearer! While it’s inevitable that more details will undoubtedly be revealed within the coming days and weeks, here are a couple of exclusive pictures (courtesy of E! News) to tide us over until October.

Michael Andrews Bespoke

June 16, 2011 By Michael Russo | Leave a Comment

When it comes to weddings, women are not the only ones who have big decisions to make when choosing what to wear on the big day. Indeed, the groom’s tuxedo is every bit as important as the bride’s gown. Furthermore, while a bride will often spend astronomical amounts on a gown that she will only wear once, a well-made tuxedo is a must-have wardrobe essential that can be worn countless times without reservation — all the more reason for a groom to select a tuxedo that fits perfectly and comfortably. Discreetly tucked away in the NoHo district in New York City, but standing at a quite sizable 4200 square feet, Michael Andrews Bespoke specializes in custom tuxedos, suits, and accessories and is a must-visit for any groom-to-be. This elegant store outfits many of Manhattan’s most stylish men and offers an inimitable shopping experience, complete with personal consultations with the knowledgeable staff, in-store fittings, and maybe even a cocktail from the luxe built-in wet bar! The Michael Andrews Bespoke aesthetic is one that combines classic tailoring and craftsmanship with a contemporary fit, and the expert master tailors will work with your personal preferences and needs to create a tuxedo that’s uniquely and entirely yours.

While filming for “Glamour‘s 25 Biggest Wedding Dos & Don’ts” on the Style Network, I had the pleasure of meeting the inimitable cake guru Sylvia Weinstock. Touted as the “Leonardo da Vinci of Cakes,” her incredible oeuvre certainly qualifies as art, as far as I’m concerned. For over 30 years, she has created whimsical, fun and downright extraordinary cakes for nearly every occasion imaginable. To take a look at her latest projects, you need to check out her blog. Here’s one of my favorites:

Chic Spring Nail Polish Shades

May 16, 2011 By Michael Russo | 1 Comment

Although I’ve already extolled the praises of pre-wedding spa days, if you don’t have the time to block out an entire day dedicated to self-pampering, scheduling a mani/pedi is an excellent (time-efficient) way to unwind. It can also be a great way to bond with your bridal party! Now that it’s finally getting nicer outside, it’s a perfect time to experiment with bright, cheery nail polishes — nudes, deep reds and sheer shades need not apply! When it comes to nail polish, Chanel is the holy grail; Peter Philps, the global creative director for Chanel Makeup, is considered a tastemaker in the beauty world. Every color that he concocts for Chanel’s runway shows flies off the shelves and inspires plenty of knockoffs. For spring and summer, Philips created several pretty polishes that I just need to share with you!

First and foremost is Riva, a shade that first debuted at Chanel’s Cruise Collection 2010-2011. This pastel baby blue polish is a breezy breath of fresh air!

Next is the standout color from the summer collection: Mimosa. A vibrant yellow, this particular color might be divisive among those of you who are more puritanical when it comes to your pedicures. However, this shade is a surefire way to inject a little sunshine into your life, and it’s surprisingly flattering against all skin tones!

Finally, there’s Morning Rose, a pink polish with a subtle swirl of gold glitter. True to its name, the shade is a warm rose, and I’m confident that it will be a spring/summer favorite! Just perfect for a spring bride.

Which of these colors are your favorite? Do you prefer the classic Morning Rose, or would you dare to wear Mimosa or Riva?
